To see the famous freshwater pink dolphins, we walked ashore across a springy plank from the little dockhouse in the background, where we had tied up the boat. When I heard a big splash behind me, I thought for a moment that the dolphins were greeting us a little overenthusiastically. But the plank had shifted under Paula's feet, and flipped her on her back into the water, completely soaking her in 12 inches of water. We all accused her of having a rebellious streak, since Samuel had impressed on us that we shouldn't even dangle our hands in the water from the boats.
